Colette Woolnough

With more than 25 years of experience, including twenty in senior leadership, Colette is a highly qualified and seasoned school leader specialising in diversity and inclusion. Alongside her teaching qualifications and psychology degree, she holds a Masters in SEN and Leadership, bolstered by postgraduate qualifications in Dyslexia, Educational Testing, and SEN Coordination. Colette’s extensive background equips her with a comprehensive understanding of special educational needs and effective leadership practices.

Her leadership roles have encompassed various educational settings, and through her role as a Specialist Leader in Education (SLE), she has spearheaded turnaround projects for struggling schools across the UK. This breadth of experience underscores her adaptability and strategic acumen in promoting inclusivity within school communities.

Her leadership has earned outstanding judgments from OFSTED (2016), BSO (2021), and, more recently, she led DBSJP to an outstanding rating for Inclusion in their 2024 DSIB inspection. Colette first achieved the Inclusion Quality Mark (IQM) in the UK and has successfully brought this prestigious award to the UAE, guiding DBSJP beyond the IQM towards Centre of Excellence status.

Colette creates a culture of acceptance and inclusivity throughout the entire school. Her passionate and infectious approach to inclusion; along with her ability to model, coach, and train teachers and leaders in inclusive practices have earned her recognition and the school many accolades but more importantly has led to many more children fulfilling their potential and enjoying their time in education.
